head gasket

Hi everyone.
Joe here, 1995 vp 5.0fl phue I blew the head gaskets when I overheated the motor.
Well, I've got the heads off and serviced. Just a few questions. Can I reuse the head bolts? They have the little nipple on the end (torque to yield?) I have been searching the forum for torque specs, but can't find any. Appreciate any help.

You should replace the head bolts. The tip of the threaded end sits in Sea Water and is probably rotted. You can torque these heads to the specs you find for a 1995 GM V8 engine.

Found this,
Understanding Torque-to-Yield
Head Bolts
T-T-Y head bolts are particularly common on engines using
aluminum heads and/or multi-layer steel head gaskets.
These bolts are engineered to stretch within a controlled
“yield zone”. Once they reach this zone, they spring back to
provide a precise level of clamping force over the entire
area of the gasket.
It’s important to carefully follow the manufacturer’s
tightening specification. Once T-T-Y bolts are stretched
beyond their yield zone, they become useless. Typically,
T-T-Y bolts are torqued to a specified limit, then again with
an additional partial turn to reach the bolt’s yield zone.
It is recommend to never reuse a T-T-Y head bolt. Chances
are too great that it has already exceeded its elasticity barrier
and won’t spring back to properly seal the engine.

First time,if not rusty you can probably re-use,make sure you put permatex 2 liberally on cyl head bolts!! torque to specs and then recheck.

Just an FYI for all..... the 1995 Volvo Penta 5.0FLPHUE uses the Ford Windsor version engine....... Not the SBC.
The "FL" is the delineating code in the V/P model number.

As for reusing TTY cylinder head bolts.......,
Here is some forum information that you can take heed of, or with a grain of salt.

Here is another search result, if interested.
