2004 EVINRUDE E90DSLSO
Hi: The engine ran OK for the first day out this spring. But the second day was less successful. It started only after many attempts, idled poorly, and when I did get it out on open water, it went to nearly full speed for about 2 minutes then bogged down and refused to go above 2000 RPM. No warning lights.
Since then I have got it running OK once. I thought it might be fuel. But a few amateur questions anyway:
1. What might make it drop from nearly full speed to 2000 RPM?
2. When the engine is running, should the fuel filter (mounted within the engine cover) be full, or will there be air there?
3. With the noise baffle off, I can see two butterfly-like ports like the ones in an old time carb, when should these open? Only high RPM?
Thank you for any help.
