Merc 170 shuts down at 180 degrees

Have a 87 Searay with Merc 4cy 170 engine/Merc sterndrive. Starts up fine but shuts down when engine heats up to 180 degrees. Any ideas?
 
I was thinking maybe coil is crapping out also. When it happens, see if coil is getting hot and also if you lose spark at plugs.
Could also be a points and condensor problem if that is what indeed you have. (no Pertronix?) Distributor may be shot but can be overcome by installing Pertronix electronic ignition. Need more info. all the best,Tom
