Am rebuilding this motor to replace my Fisherman 5.5...pulled the driveshaft and the bottom half inch that sinks into the pinion is shot! Much to my surprise there is no other damage to any of the L/U gears at all! Can't find a replacement drive shaft. I've looked on iBoats, Marine Engine, Vintage OB's, Wholesale Marine, eBay, and one or two others. Was wondering if I can get a shaft with splines on the bottom and replace the pinion with one that requires a splined shaft? They seem to be easier to come by. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated guys.. Thanks
