Need help. Engine would not stop running when I turned the ignition key off. Had to cut off gas to stop. What could be causing the problem?

Does the ignition switch feel alright or does it feel loose?

Does the engine have a safety lanyard?Yamaha's ignition shuts off to ground,when key is off white wire in harness should show ground.Check were harness plugs into motor for bad connection.

Yeah, it does. I pulled it off thinking that it might be a problem but nothing happened. I'll check where it plugs into the motor. I just had some work done on it and maybe something got messed up. thanks!

check the ground wires. maybe somewhere it`s loose or corrosion happen.

either bad key switch or stop circuit
