I have a 4HP merc, almost new, that starts easily, revs in neutral to the max easily, but when I put it in forward or reverse, and attempt to increase throttle, it stalls - Help!

Need serial#s,mode etc.Profile? You might be close to someone who can help.
Check the fuel system for gunk.water, air leaks.Ethanol is not our friend.Take the carb apart.Be careful not to damage any rubber or seals.
Try resetting the air screw(manual).J

Hi,

Welcome to the best boat forum in the world. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Check compression and also spark plugs. They sometimes die under power but will rev until 6k no sweat when in neutral.

Lastly, don't over-rev her in neutral. They tend to not like it, more so on bigger out boards.

Is prop clear of debris? Fishing line will choke a 200 horse dead in it's tracks...

Keep us posted as to cause & remedy. It's how we all learn and share.

Cheers!

Benjamin.
