Your fuel line from the tank and shut off valve (which must be closed when running on the remote tank) go to the back facing barb on the carb. The remote tank hose goes to the front facing barb on the carb. The remote tank fitting must not leak, or you will get air to the carb instead of gas. Sometimes the little barbs would break and there were models with out the remote tank fitting. The remote tank model is fed with the "bladder " fuel pump in the flange of the carb and the reeds to that pump are under the plate the fuel lines go on.
