What year is my 9.9?

The Mercury marine system makes it out to be a 1980 MERCURY 9.8 M Model number 1010200.

And it looks like this engine may have been invoice out to a dealer on 10/03/1983.

But this could be wrong Because this is a canada serial number and I believe Mercury had a harder time keeping track of their records back then. Good luck
