I would like some advice on which fuel additives will actually help to prolong the life of my outboard Yamaha motor, and which additives help to prevent fuel problems like gum or varnish buildup in the carburetors, or carbon buildup?

" Yamaha sells ringfree. I'm not sure exactly what it does, but I think it helps in reducing carbon buildup. I use Bombardier/OMC carbon guard in my Johnson 15. I don't see why it would harm a Yamaha, or if Yamaha has anything similar. Check with your Yamaha dealer to make sure, because I don't know much abot them except to say they make a fine product that lasts! "
