4-71 - White smoke out of the breather / white smoke out of exhaust, oil sheen

At operating temp and idle, the wet exhaust is spitting a bit of oil, (light sheen), and white smoke. The crankcase breather also has white smoke pouring out...

Injectors? Rings? Blower? All??

Any ideas?

Thanks!

This is an old Marine 4-71 unknown hours, in the boat since 1968 -@ 60 degrees F, it requires starter fluid to fire up

Non-Turbo, no inter-cooler or after-cooler AFAIK.

I think we're WAY beyond "freshen up", (lol) - How far is my question. Oil pressure is normal, maybe a top end rebuild? Thanks for your help!

Try adjusting the valves before getting too carried away. They just might be a tick tight costing you some compression.

Look to the injectors. Probaly has the old crown valve injectors instead of the "N" or needle style. There is a huge difference in how the atomize fuel. Oil burns blue.Fuel burns white! If the old crown valves aren't seating they just dribble fuel all the time and cause dropplets like black oil at the exhaust. They will also cause ether addicition.
