1995 yamaha 150 thru prop exhaust

I have a 1995 yamaha 150 v-6. Is this a thru prop exhaust? Yesterday I put the muffs on it and started it up and I couldn't tell if it was exhaust or smoke but it seemed excessive. Is this normal or a problem? I had it out on an ICW in myrlte beach on Saturday, and it ran great, then towed it back to Va.
 
I don't think there is such a thing as a V-6 outboard that is -------------NOT THROUGH THE HUB EXHAUST--------------Unless it is a racing machine.
