Crusader 454- Riser & elbow help

Hello-I am in the process of redoing my risers and elbows on my FWC 454's. Crusader Manual says use gasket goop- Osco says don't. Would like to use Merc Perfect Seal on both gaskets and bolts. Any advice? Is this a difficult job to get a good seal? Thank you
 
I went back and forth with this question myself last year. I wound up not using anything per Osco. I've gone about 100 hours and had two slight drips which an 1/8 turn on a couple of bolts solved.

A lot of guys swear by a thin layer of perfect seal or similar. In hindsight, I probably should have done the same.... I don't see any downside as long as you don't overuse. it.

So far, so good for me though.

I just changed my risers and manifolds with Osco, and used no 'goop'. I have about 15hrs on the new ones with no leaks
