No Spark 9.9

Hello, I just acquired a 1990 9.9 hp johnson outboard.I was going to use it for a parts motor but decided to see whats wrong with it.It has sat for over 3 years with no attention at all. It has no spark to either plug,kill switch disconnected.Where is a good place to start? Thanks

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, Ive looked on the block and cannot find a cdi box.The wires from both coils run up under the flywheel.Is that where it is located ? Thanks

Before spending $$$$$ on that item...... check the end of the tiller steering handle. There is usually a button (kill button) at that location. If so, there should be a plastic clip inserted in a slot of that button to hold it out.

When "IN", the ignition is shorted out. When "OUT" the ignition is engaged.

This may not peertain to your engine but it's something worth looking into.
