the motor had been sitting since early eighties along with the boat in the garage. it was soft siezed from sitting, took it apart and got it free, everything looks to be in good condition.

i will have lots of questions but first...

i see you can buy a complete gasket kit for the 312 for about 100bux....i know some wont work for the interceptor but most will... is it worth it or is there anothe kit specially for the interceptor? ... i know the oil pan is different.

more pix and questions to come

any info on the motor is appreciated...

The y block has a couple of gotchas when rebuilding. One is that the timing chain for the camshaft uses a non standard method of indexing and a second is that the head gaskets can be installed backwards. Get a good manual. Cannot help on gasket set. Also, the rod and main bearings are different than used on a 272, 292 and are harder to find, and expensive. Good luck. It makes a great marine engine.
