Just took the lower unit off the 1995 15hp Evinrude I just bought in order to change the water pump impeller. What I discovered was a large deposit if salt on the water pump housing and inside the water ports. What would be the best way to remove all the salt from the case? I also noticed a fairly thick oily coating on the exhaust port in the housing out the propeller. Is this normal or was the gas/oil mix too much oil?
