VP D6-370 - How to start the engine for test purposes with out HCU + PCU

I want to test D6-370 engines without having to program the ECU en connect the PCU + HCU. I have a ComAp intellidrive to control the engine over the canbus. But I still have to connect wire 5 - ignition signal. What is it? a 12v+ signal? 12v-? digital? Now I have the engines connected to a battery by the - to ground and the + on the + of the starter.
But I don't hear the injectors ticking. How can I run the engine? Anybody any ideas?
 
I am not that familar with the volvo ecu software, how ever John Deere and CNH engines will not be able to run without the factory diagnostic programs. Most CAN bus systems are usually 6 to 8 volts and shut down when another voltage is dectected. The days of us shade tree mechanics are coming to an end. Good luck.
