Paragon Vdrive stuck in reverse

I am restoring a 1952 Shepherd 18' 6cyl crown with vdrive. The engine is now complete and before I install the Vdrive on the engine I wanted to make sure it will shift gears. Well it seems to be stuck in reverse. Turns freely but the shift lever will not move. With the cover plate off the drive, the fingers at the clutch seem free.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Guy

Don't know how to fix what you have, but a friend of mine had his paragon vdrives quit on his chrysler 318s and he replaced them with walters vdrives. Made a real nice installation.

Here's a stupid reply, but maybe the shifter is rusted up and not moving, maybe try GENTLY tapping the shifter lever with a small hammer and hit it with WD-40 to free it up

The shift is made on the velvet drive last I checked .......disconnect cable, do it by hand while running if you can't feel the balll detent...you need to polish that whole assebly
