1992 70HP Stops running after about 30 minutes

I have a 70hp Johnson that has ran great all year, till now. After about 25 minutes it shuts off and will not start for at least an hour. Replaced plugs and took out on the lake, quit again after 30 minutes. I have an idea the power pack is going bad, any ideas from anyone before I start replacing parts. Also, was getting fuel all along.

Put a timing light on it when it " shuts off " to see if it is spark related.--------------Throwing parts at it can be an expensive way to end up with a fix that might be simple.

I finally got back to the lake, did not have a timing light, but ran it at idle for about 45 minutes with no problems. Would it heat up enough at idle to cause the shut down?
 
There was a sevice bulletin to move the inlet for the telltale hose to the top of the block.---------------Has it been done on this motor?----Has waterpump been serviced recently?
