Is this the correct size shaft for my transom.

The flush measurement of the transom on my tinny is 17" from top to bottom.What i need to know is will a short shaft motor be ok on this boat ?All help will be appreciated.

not likely if the convention down there is to use "short shaft" for an outboard desiring a 15" transom. A jackplate may be viable to make up the difference and give some "setback" too.
 
Long shaft is 20" and the short shaft is 15" to keel. www.Lundboats.com has a spec page. One thing to remember is where the water pickup is located on the lower unit. If you have a small Hp that you are dealing with I would cut down your transom 2" with a jig saw and metal blade,oil well, and slap on that motor. The transom should be reinforced with wood and maybe a angle plate of some sort that bears the brunt of the pushing force.
