Shifter cable adjustment for 2001 8.1's with Hurth Trannys

Hi all,
I thought my starboard neutral safety switch was going bad, so I replaced it. I'm still having the same problem. I have to move or "jiggle" the shifter around to get it to start. The cable end at the trans has some play in it. I'm pretty sure it just needs adjustment However I cannot find the procedure for this in any of my manuals.
Any help would be great. It's a 2001 392 with Crusader 8.1's and Hurth trannys

Put the trans lever in neutral and confirm that it cranks. Adjust the cable so when the control lever is in neutral, the socket on the end of the cable aligns with the ball on the lever. Just to be sure there are no other problems, move the control handle fully in both directions to ensure the transmission is fully engaging. Recheck the start in neutral operation. Keep in mind that cables can stretch with time and usage and if you can not keep a consistant adjustment, the cable may be in need of replacement.
