1989 3.0 OMC Cobra engine will turn over but not start

I have a 1989 3.0 OMC cobra on a 1989 1600 Freedom Four Winns, I have never had a problem with the engine until now, I put the boat in the water every weekend to go fishing, I dropped it in this past weekend and it would turn over but not start,two weeks prior I replaced the spark plugs and wires, and it was running fine, I noticed that when it would not start that gas was coming out from the spark plugs, if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
 
Sounds like you may have lost your spark. Double check your high tension coil wire going to the dist incase it came loose. Take a meter or test light and put it on the +'ve side of the coil and see if you have power while cranking. Does the boat have a kill switch with a lanyard? if it's tripped the engine will crank but won't fire.
