New U-cooler question 2003 300hp

I just ordered and received a new U-cooler for a 2003 carbed 300HP 350 CU IN Crusader. The new cooler has the identical part number, 98570, but has no provision for the pencil zincs! Go figure....


Should I care? Some seem to suggest they are more trouble than they are worth but corrosion and subsequent mixing of fluids that shouldn't mix are my concern!

What do you think?

That doesn't seem right to me. Raw water just sits in there after shutdown. Not having a drain also might make winterization more difficult.

Doh! Stupid me!! (Remving foot from mouth) I wasn't thinking that the drain, which has a brass plug in it, is where the pencil zinc goes.:eek:

When I change those zincs I'm usually half upside down, twisted, contorted and doing boat yoga. I never connected the drain to the zinc
