guy's, what is the best way to install a new transom seal gasket, also i noticed the new seal is slightly bigger than the old seal.i also notice there is a indentation where the seal can be cut.will the glue hold it in place as i install,or should i tape it down as i go.how much should i overlap at the cut point.need instructions.1987 alpha-1.thanks for your input.

Ayuh,... It's bigger because it ain't been compressed for 20 Years...
Cut it to fit Exactly,.... No overlap...
The surfaces Must be clean, flat, 'n Smooth..
It goes on Dry, but if you're inta goop, go for it...

I don't use tape, as it'll become a water path when it rots...

I have always run a small bead of grease all around the bellhosing mating surface and smoothed it out with my finger and then put on the gasket.Charlie
