I just purchased a sailboat with a Honda 2002 BF8. I checked the oil level and was a little puzzled with the dipstick measurements. The dipstick is measured in 500-600-700-800 I have no clue what this means. Can someone help. thanx Jeff

If you have what is considered the Classic 8 (BF8A), it holds 800ml of oil. All the ones I have seen here just have some hatch marks on the dipstick showing the level where it is safe.

If you are located outside the US, it may just show what the actual level of the oil is.

This is a new one on me.

Honda made two different 8 HP's from 2001 -2007. The Classic 8 has been around a long time...

The newer version BF8D, that was available after 2001, holds 1.3 liters of oil. It also has a spin on oil filter, where the BF8A does not have an external filter.

Maybe someone else has actually seen one of these.
