ECM replacement question

After numerous attempts at fixes (see power loss at high rpm, and follow up posts) on 2002 Silverton with 8.1's determined by swapping ecm's that ecm at a minimum had lost it's tach driver and was possibly causing the power loss. Currently have MEFI - 4 (Delphi part 12569494) Purchased from Crusader reconditioned ECM. Gave them the serial number for the engine and part number and they sent Delphi 12584052 which I think is MEFI - 4b. Should it matter. Crusader hasn't returned my call about the switch in ecm.

Agree on your part number to MEFI version mapping.

The 4B should physically be compatible with the 4's and the 4a's so that part is straight forward. The other key component is to have the right program loaded into it (the street scene calls this the "tunes"). If it came from crusader and the SN was provided, i'd say hook it up and give it a whirl.
