rv26 vs rv30d

i just blew a trans in my boat and i got a used one from the mech at the marina and he gave me a rv 30d now on the other side is a rv 26 and 1 is a 1.46-1 and the rv 30d is a 2.09-1 i no that he ratio is wrong cuase i get alot of thrust out of 1 and not the other but i want to no if theres a difference between rv26 and rv26d whats with the D and is there a difference in rh lh drive because i have a twin chrysler 318s and they both look identical with the exception of the rv30d being a little bigger thanks
 
i made the same mistake, bought a used rv30d and found it was basically a basket case, but unfortunately not from a mechanic who I knew so I basically threw good money down the drain.
