grey marine amc 327

I have a 1965 resorter with grey marine amc 327. back fires thru carb , has a miss in it , have new points plugs wires etc. the carb is a two barrell holley. which I do not think is original. has the flywheel aft. can not find any plate for engine ID. any ideas. thanks gary
 
Gary,
There could be a number of things out of adjustment. Check timing, Check compression, Check rocker arm tappet clearance. Check fireing order,
Check timing chain play. Get the Gray Marine Manual for the 327.
