Johnson 1996 200 hp stalls after starting.

1996 Johnson Ocean Runner will not idle for long. VRO rebuilt, filter changed and new plugs installed. Also, I can pump the squeeze ball up, but if I give it a pump after it gets rigid, it loses pressure. it starts right off; but after a few seconds slows down and stalls with a "puff."

If the bulb losses pressure after you keep pumping once it gets hard and the fuel is not leaking out anywhere, it means that your floats/needles are still open allowing fuel in to fuel bowl in the carb then probably flooding your carbs...perhaps killing the motor by flooding it??? now as Martino said does the motor starts again of what happens??? it definitely sounds like a fuel issue problem, give us more info... it might only need some minor idle screw adjustment…

It restarts easily as soon as I turn the key; but once again, it fast idles a few seconds then slows and stalls in under a minute.
