Take a good look at the motor mount bases for rot or splits. Do the same for the stringers. Check the transom carefully, especially the lower half. Rot begins near the hull drain. Sound the entire area w/a mallet. If there is rot you will know it by a thud or compression of the fiberglass.

If you find rot it can be repaired by cutting the f'glass from the inside and replacing the wood; use epoxy to glue it in place and reglass it. If it is a small area, deck of cards or so, use coarse sawdust and epoxy L&L resin to make a stiff putty. Coat the damaged area w/some resin just before pressing the putty mix in place.

If the engine bay is in good condition, clean out the dirt and grease and paint it white. That will make it look great and allow you to see the engine better when working and find any leaks should they occur. Also get on eBay and buy some 2.5" X 1" white LED lamps and install in parallel down low; 3 across the transom and 2-3 on each side and in front of the engine. They will greatly help you see when working. Wire an LED rocker switch at the dash so it is hot w/the ignition off. Fuse it w/a 2 amp fuse off the hot side of the ignition switch.
