1973 johnson 85hp problems

i have an 85hp johnson and when i take it out it runs great for about 100 or 200yrds then misses out then takes off again then misses out. it gradually gets worse the longer it runs. If anybody has any ideas please let me know. thanks Eyehunter
 
Try pumping the primer bulb when it happens and see if it helps, maybe you have a fuel pump acting up.
You might also have some trash in your high speed jets. Could also be dropping a cylinder.
