7.4 takes off fine then dies, starts fine cruises fine, hit the gas and she quits suddenly. Any idea

98 eliminator 7.4 v8 , 300 hours. Fuel filter? fuel pump? injection? coil? computer? ELiminator says bring it down for an hour test and they can solve in the tank. but.....$$.
 
Do you have mechanical or electric fuel pumps. Had similiar issue. Ended up being a pin hole leak in the mechanical pump
diaphragm. Replaced the pump
