    Default Latest update.

    Slowly getting used to it.
    So far mainly cosmetics noticed.
Still miss the instant e-mail notifications and sadly the 'who is on-line' has disappeared.

    Morten,

We have put the "who's online" feature back on, see on the main page of the forum.

The instant e-mail notifications will be implemented again. We wanted to make this upgrade before installing the necessary modification for it.

I think you will find that there are a lot of improved features. Better photo posting, easier posting of video links, better search, better profile control, etc.

I'm sure there will be some bugs. Please let me know what you find.

    Thanks.

After overcoming the 'widescreen' feature and getting rebaselined, I can say that things are noticeably slower, on all the computers.

If I had to guess, I'd suspect JAVA has been introduced.

    makomark,

It took a while for me to reply because I have been checking into this. There is no JAVA, and we have not been finding the board to be any slower when testing from here on various browsers.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else is finding it slower, faster, or about the same. One way to check is to do a search. Even clicking the New Posts or Today's Posts link will do a search.

    Thanks for the feedback!

No problem; your service has always been A-1, Andrew. JAVA-based stuff knocks my 'old' machines to there knees quite frequently.

Its funny as the initial thread usually loads 'normally' as do the 'post quick replies'. Changing boards within the ME forum zone or changing threads within a board is where I notice the 'lag' most. And the behavoir is consistent between all the machines used.

I read other (non-boat) forums and have noticed they have slowed, too. Many use the vbulletin product, too. I usually expect them to be slow as most use a "dwell time" for their ad spots.

Sad to see I'm not the only one.

On the other hand, glad to see I'm not "loosing it", yet.

    Makomark,

We are still working on the speed issue. It only seems to occur for some users, see this thread in the Mercruiser section.

    Thanks.

    Andrew:

The configuration change suggested in the other thread makes a big difference...

Somewhere between getting the turbo fully spooled up and lighting off the afterburner, even now, at the peak usage time on the east coast.

Keep up the good detective work and keep up posted.

    What have you done Andrew???

The 'new' version is now working like the 'old' one, at least today!

Did you find a couple configuration settings to change? Just curious, on this end.

    Congrats and a big THANKS!!!
