Nissan\Tohatsu 3.5 Hp runs backwards

This 3.5 was running ok but now starts and runs "backward" No it doesn't have a transmission\clutch its a gitty up & go. Perplexed by this Any quick answers?
 
If this is a two stroke and the ignition timing is very close to top dead centre, it will quite happily fire up and run backwards. Check your timing to the manufacturer's specs.
