hi , on my 120hp 1980 merc i ave a water separator (like oil filter)then in line fuel filter,then filter in pump ,plus strainer in carb. i wonder,is that too many?

i would like to know the water separator, wen to change.thanks.

change out at the end of the season. just before storing/securing the engine . drain the fuel out of the fuel lines.

i taught i could just empty in a bucket check for water,replace.

inline filter got to go the sep stay's. Dump the contents of the sep in a clear container, let it sit and see if you got alot of gunk and water on the bottom of the fuel. Mine is 3 years old the element, i paint the outside.

i cat, why should i drain fuel line?i usually put conditioner in the fuel ,then i would need a valve at the tank,witch i dont ave.(always tough should ave a valve? ) and the hose would become vacuum from engine suction ?
