oil change 1998 7.4 L

Looking to change my oil for the 1st time on a 1998 7.4 mpi Mercruiser engine.

What weight is recommended ?

Should I use Merc oil, I have used Rotella Oil in the past on large diesel Cat engines, it had all the correct additives for a marine engine.

It will work. Merc. recommends their 25W40. They sell it as a mineral base or synthetic base. I have used Rotella 15W40 in the past but have been using Mobil One 15W50 w/good results the past few years.
