Ed Stoller's repair is much more practical and cheap 25$ if Ed does it or just parts if you do it. The failed part is most commonly the C1 capacitor http://www.enginesandmagnets.com
Colverts fixed trigger coil type of repair can be bought for 20$ as a kit from http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_110499/article.html and you can use the trigger coil in the original SSI module. All that said your money ahead to use Ed Stollers method. I understand there is a Eska yahoo group with instructions for the repair.
for complete instructions for the repair join the yahoo group and look in the files section for the instructions and do it yourself save you eska $$$ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eskaoutboards/ hardest part is depoting the section just above the C1 capacitor, it works like a charm

there are a couple web sites for the solid state replacement. Ive seen a couple that supposedly work on riding mowers which they say will work for the Tecumseh

Sorry brim buster, but if you know not the intricacies of the Tecumseh SSI module you will never get out of the class, only one fix and you looked at it![]()
