Hello All..

yes the famous "What year is my motor" question once again!! lol

after exhausting my searches on the web i turn to the forum as ussual!

i just picked up 2 older mercury that were discarded at the salvage yard and wanted to know the years of both.

First one is a Mercury (Made in Canada) 20HP Ser# 7077734. I would assume in the 70 to 74 range...

next one

Mercury 7.5
ser# 3201268

I have checked many listing but cannot find these two anywhere.

Any help would be apreciated.

Cheers

ZT

Should have added, the 20 horse is a very (salvageable) motor.

It has a "modern" ignition (thunderbolt 4) on it (it is the points for earlier 20 horses that are almost impossible to come by although Merc no longer stocks the switchbox for this model year - but everything else is still available).

If the cylinders are in good shape it's definately worth "bringing back to life".

The carb, although one of the first models with the integral fuel pump, still has kits available from Merc as regular stock - ditto for the fuel pump.

The 7.5 is another story.

Personally, if I picked up this pair, I would part out the 7.5 and sell what I could on Ebay and then use the money to restore the 20..
