force 40 not firing. need help!

i bought a bayliner with a force 40 on it. i have owned it for a little over a year and no problems ever out of it but the other day i had to give it some gas when i cranked it(which i never had before) and i started up river and it started losing power and when i came to a stop the motor died and now it has no spark. i have no idea where to start looking
 
Do a compression test and then a spark test.Safety switch un hooked?
The keyway in the flywheel could have sheared.Post your results.J
 
compression good, tried with switches up hooked and still nothing. i got 2 yellow wires coming out of rectifier going to stator and the got power when motor spinning over and they are a green/white wire and a white/green wire coming out of stator going back to a plug in coils, they have a dim light(using a test light)when motor is spinning over but there is no fire going to plugs
