1/4 inch hose leading to bilge 2000 5.7 Gs

Hi Guys,
I was looking at a 2000 5.7 GS motor yesterday and found. a black hose along the starboard side of the engine down in the bilge. It is open on the bilge side and leads up to the rear of the motor. It's about 1/4 inch dia. and resembles windshield washer hose, the open end in the bilge has been cut at a 45 degree angle. I did see water exiting this hose with a really high bilge water level on plane. Any ideas as to what this hose does?

No idea, but could it be coming from the speedo? Or is it coming from the bilge pump and is supposed to go overboard? I guess that the only way to find for sure is that you endeavour to find the other side of the hose and see where it originates from. :D
