Block and head repair

Hi folks, I've come upon a 30HP Honda that had a failure in the block of the engine. In a nutshell, the wall between the exhaust chamber and the water jacket corroded through. It doing so, the head was also damaged in the same area. The head has had a bead of aluminum that has restored the head material, but the block repair was not complete. That's where the engine is when I purchased it.

I'm assuming that planing the head is all that's needed for the head - hoping that it won't throw off a milling unit to have one section to protrude significantly higher than the rest (half the thickness of the bead).

The block is a bigger concern. Can I use a Duraweld or similar fix, or should it be aluminum? There's not a lot of pressure in this area (no combustion pressures, just the pressure wave of the exhaust pulses on one side, water pressure on the other). So, what do folks think? I'm have a dickens of a time trying to find someone that does aluminum welding in my area (Portland Me).
