Head gaskets

Rebuilding a Crusader 270. I have heard and read that most gaskets are the same as automotive. As for head gaskets I have heard that you should use marine for every application, only if it is salt water application, use if it is a fresh water cooled, and last, if it is raw water cooled in fresh water automotive are OK.

It is a fresh water application, what are the opinions on this?
