Gearcase lube question

What is the difference between the Type C gearcase lube and the 80W-90 hi-vis lube? I have two motors and one calls for Type C and the other hi-vis.

The Type C goes into a 1966 manual shift Ski-Twin 33hp. The Type C is getting hard to find locally so I am wondering if I can use Hi-Vis in it instead.

I googled a bit and found some information about OMC Type C. It is very non-conductive which is important for electric shift engines. It maintains its lubricating properties better than other lubricants when infiltrated with water, and it has better lubricating effects on the types of gears used in marine engines (something about off-set gears, or gears that mesh at angles, I don't remember exactly).

That being said, since my motor is not an electric shift, and it has good seals on the gearcase, I think hi-vis will be OK.

Anyone disagree?
