I have an early 1960's 283 Crusader Marine engine (SN 4378) that still runs strong and am looking to upgrade to a newer alternator. Not sure if the existing is a generator or alternator - don't see any diodes and the voltage regulator is meant for a generator (according to Napa Auto Parts) - but it looks like an earlt alternator. I'm looking for a modern alternator with the same frame configuration so it will fit in the tight spot Crusader jammed it into.
Generator/alternator: Prestolite No. ALF 5201 S, 12 volt P 51 38
Voltage regulator: Prestolite VBV-6201D 12v neg grd
Anyone got a cross reference to a newer alternator?
