81 ford gauge sensor locations on engine.

Hello, I have been working on restoring an 81 mastercraft with a pmc ford 351 cooled with lake water.

This weekend I had it out on the lake for the first time.

I need help trouble shooting the Gauges. I checked and they have voltage and good fuses, but I dont know where they connect on the engine side.

Where are the sensors / connections located for the temperature gauge?

Where does the tachometer wire connect to the engine?

Where does the voltage - amp gauge wire attach?

Any help would be great!!!

temp gauge is usually around the thermostat housing. they usually have a TAN wire connecting them to the gauge. the return for the gauge is provided thru the block and ground wire going back to the panel.

the tach wire is usually grey and goes to the point side (-) of the coil.

Your "voltage - amp gauge" is an ambiguous description - you need to figure out which one it is or how many wire connections it has and what their labels are.

Look for the bolt on casting where the hoses connect on the top, front of the engine. You can also follow the hoses from the exhaust manifold (bottom connections) back up to the thermostat housing.

Sorry - no pictures worthy of sharing for the old Ford stuff, at least not here. You may wanna use the search function to go thru some of the older postings here.
