I can buy a 1984 Crusader 454 engine 350hp to rebuild for my 28 boat and was wondering what internals and heads were used on these engines?

Cast or forged rotating assemblies?

Oval or rectangular port heads? Am guessing oval port so were they small peanut heads #236 or large ovals like 049 or 781?

Compression?
Cam lift and duration?
Carb size?

Thanks
Chuck

Cast crank and flattop pistons. Probably 4 bolt mains. Open chamber, oval heads, not sure the casting #. Carb around 700 to 750 cfm. About a 8.1:1 comp ratio.

The factory Q-jet is rated at 750 CFM. The CR in the manual for mine - 1985/86 - shows another 1/2 point; at 8.6:1. The heads are the smaller ovals - peanut ports - as found on almost every truck engine of that vintage. And every one I've had apart were 4-bolt main capped. The cam had the identical specs as the speed-pro replacement cam with asymetric lobes. The 0.050" numbers are .271/.283 (in/ex) and 214/218 deg. the sheet also shows 122 degrees between centers and part number CS-1093M, for the LH engine.
