    Default Mariner 5M 6e3

My dad called me and said he bought a 5 horse mariner from a pawn shop and the guy told him it was a 4 stroke I told him I thought it would be a 2 stroke, and not to run it until I find out. Are any of you guys familiar with this engine?

If the 6E3 in your title is part of the model/serial, it's definately a 2 stroke.

The 6E3's were built by Yamaha, for Mercury between 1980-1990. They were carbon copies of Yamaha's own model 5C built in the early 1980's.

Tell him to mix his "4 stroke" with regular unleaded and TCW-3 2 cycle oil at a 50:1 mix rate
