I have a 1989 bayliner with a 305 engine that i rebuilted. i not going to use a points distributor, but going to use a non-points distributor. will i have to use a diffen shift assist module. or will the sameone be able to be used.

Re: shift assist module

Are you actually changing the dist or just converting the points over to electronic?
If you go the Pertronix route they have a diode/resistor fix to help work with the existing ESA or you could replace the ESA with one from CDI/Rapair that works great without any extra fixes.

Re: shift assist module

i just converting the points over to electronic. so if i understand this. i have two ways out. one is to add some fixes, or just get a new ESA. but i will not be able to just use the old one the way it is with the electronic
