black oily drip from cooling exhaust hole 2006 25 hp

Hello - First Post - Thanks in advance
I have an outboard 25 hp merc 2 stroke 2006

Today I found a small black "oily" drip
coming from the small cooling exhaust hole
just above the skeg

This is my first gas tank of the season
and I am running 2x oil/gas mix as recommended
I also just started using an ethanol water remover
in the gas as well.

The check water flow "pee" was on the entire time engine was
on so I know thats working. Engine is running and starting fine.

Should i be worried?
thanks joe

Re: black oily drip from cooling exhaust hole

Nope - that is just burnt/unburnt oil and gas that has slithered it's way down the exhaust housing from the powerhead.

Normally it ends up in the lake or on the road during the trailer ride home.

If a 2 stroke "didn't" drip that mess there would be a problem :)
(which is among other things, why the EPA hates them)

Thanks for taking time the time to post up an answer

Thats what i figured but i have never noticed it before
so I wanted to make sure before real damage was done

Thanks again, Im new to the outboard motor world
and all I'll say is that I have A LOT to learn...
