I have a sears 4hp motor that i recently just purchased. I am not sure what type of oil to mix with the gas. The man at the local marina sold me mercury premium plus 2cycle oil. He told me to mix it 50:1 but the engine says 100:1. the model number is 574-59660. I am not sure if i should use this oil blend or a different kind. the oil i have says its tc-w3 certified.

20:1 air cooled mix oil.

Not CCW3.

Like your average lawnmower.

Air cooled outboards are the same and run hotter so need different lubrication than normal outboard oils which are designed to do the job at far lower temperatures.

Normal two stroke oil is the way to go.

Is Your motor air cooled or water cooled?
If it is water cooled use an oil that has a "TCW-3" rating.
If it is air cooled use any oil You would use in a chain saw or
weed wacker.
The engine will last longer on a 50to1 mix.
Good luck with your motor!
