DF6 shifter lubrication step by step

If the shifter is hard to push back and forth do this:

1: Drain the oil
2: remove the DF6 power unit intact by a) losen the control cable from the shifter to the recoil starter in 3 places so it dangles free. b) Remove the 9 engine mounting bolts. Tap the engine on the bottom left and right side where the 2 guide pins are to get the power unit off. Several taps may be needed with a soft hammer. It moves up, if engine is mounted on a test stand. Put power unit on a table close by, as the cables are still attached.

see diagram here to find where the pins are:

3. if the power unit gasket is torn, buy a new one. Or it will leak water.
4. Remove the bolt inside the upper unit where the shift rod attaches. Pull shift rod off. Remove the spacer thats aound the clutch (Inside still)
5. Using the clutch lever, turn it, pulling out, it will slide out. Don't lose the spring and white notch pin when you do this.
6. Clean everything, and clean inside the unit where the clutch goes back in. Lub everything and replace in reverse order.

see diagram here of clutch lever:
